Your saying the new dvr and old dish are compatable with changes in set up. Suppose the old LNB 18 decided to not work anymore. How would I be able to see if that was the problem? Or would I be better off getting a new dish for the second house?

"775" means that the R22 is still looking for a SWM dish setup, so your dish changes aren't sticking.   Be sure that the dish is connected first before resetting the R22 and performing the Satellite Setup process.
